Carlos Alcaraz is just three matches away from winning the Sunshine Double. After winning the Indian Wells title, he's now aiming to win the Miami Open. In the last eight the top seed faces Grigor Dimitrov who is seeded 11th. The winner goes into a semi-final against either fourth seed Alexander Zverev or unseeded Fabian Marozsan. Alcaraz is the world number two but closing the gap between himself and top ranked Novak Djokovic. He won this title two years ago and made it to the last four in 2023. His good form seen in Indian Wells has been shown in this Masters 1000 tournament. He's beaten Roberto Carballes Baena, Gael Monfils and 23rd seed Lorenzo Musetti without dropping a set. This has extended his unbeaten run to nine matches with just two sets lost. He leads Dimitrov 3-1 in previous meetings but did lose their most recent match in Shanghai last year. That's the only meeting they've had on an outdoor hard court which is the setting for this match.

Grigor Dimitrov was ranked 12th at the start of this tournament but can move up a place if winning this match. The Bulgarian is tenth in the Live ATP Race and would climb to sixth if he can beat Alcaraz. He's playing in his first quarter final and has had some tough matches to get this far. He had to go to three sets against both Alejandro Tabilo and in the last round, eighth seed Hubert Hurkacz. Dimitrov lost the first set in that match against Hurkacz and finally got through by winning a third set tie-break. Alcaraz is the one to back here and we believe he'll win in straight sets.
