Week six in the Currie Cup will see the Blue Bulls taking on the Griffons at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday afternoon. The hosts currently lead the competition standings, while the visitors are bottom of the table. Let’s get into the match prediction.

It has been an impressive start to the season for the Bulls, who are in pole position heading into the sixth week after finishing fourth last term. 

The Bulls are currently on 21 points after the first five games, courtesy of four wins and just one draw. They have also notched up three bonus points, all for tries scored and have opened up a three-point gap between themselves and the chasing pack. 

Last week, the Pretoria-based club made the trip to the Free State to take on the defending champions the Cheetahs. In a back-and-forth encounter, they managed to keep up with the attacking Cheetahs and came away with a deserved 34-34 draw. 

The hosts faced their upcoming opponent back in week two of the competition and secured a commanding 52-10 victory and are the clear favourites in this one as well. 

Meanwhile, after finishing bottom of the table with just one win last season, the Griffons are finding it tough again this term, rooted to the foot of the standings and yet to win a match. 

The side from Welkom already have a massive -177 points difference and have earned just two bonus points, one for tries scored in a match and the other for losing by fewer than seven points. 

The Griffons have now won only one match in their last two seasons in the Premier Division and it’s difficult to see them improve that tally given their performances in the competition so far.
