Matchday 26 in the EFL Championship sees Birmingham and Coventry battle it out at St. Andrews Stadium. Birmingham are in 17th place in the league standings, while Coventry are in first place. Here's our match prediction. 

Birmingham are seven points ahead of the relegation zone. A win here and results elsewhere going in their favor could see them jump to 13th place.

Admittedly, December was not a good month for them. They recorded just one win in seven league games (D3, L3). During this period, they managed to score in six outings.

The Blues had high hopes of starting 2026 on the right footing. However, a disheartening 3-0 away defeat against Watford on Thursday extended their winless league run to seven games.

Coventry City are eight points clear at the top of the table with 52 points accumulated from 25 games. This sees them in pole position to return to the Premier League for the first time in 25 years.

Recent results, though, have not gone their way. They have failed to win their last two league games. In fact, they have two wins to their name in seven games. 

In their most recent match, the Sky Blues found themselves being held to a 1-1 away draw. Ellis Simms opened the scoring for his team in the 3rd minute, but his effort was nullified by a 69th-minute equalizer.
