Ben Shelton vs Frances Tiafoe Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP US Open

There's an all-American match in round three of the US Open. 13th seed Ben Shelton takes on Frances Tiafoe who is seeded 20th for this hard court tournament. Who will make it into the last 16? Here's our match prediction.

Shelton is the world number 13 but down three places in the live rankings. That's because he's defending the points won when reaching the semi-finals in New York last year. The 21-year-old played well in Cincinnati recently, getting to the last eight.

He lost to Alexander Zverev in that hard court tournament after winning the first set. Before that he reached the Washington semi-final  Two other hard court semi-finals have also been reached this year.

His only tournament win has come on clay and he beat Tiafoe in the Houston final. So far in this Grand Slam, Shelton has beaten Dominic Thiem and Roberto Bautista Agut, winning both matches in straight sets.

Frances Tiafoe is also a former US Open semi-finalist. He got to that stage in 2022 and lost in the last eight in 2023 when it was Shelton who beat him. He'll be out for some revenge in this third round match.

The 26-year-old was ranked 20th in the last list but is down two places in the live rankings. He had an excellent run in Cincinnati earlier this month, making it to the final where he was beaten by Jannik Sinner.

A quarter-final in Atlanta was reached and he also made it to the last four in Washington.  In this tournament, Tiafoe has beaten Aleksandar Kovacevic (in four sets) and Alexander Shevchenko who retired in set three when two sets down.

We tip Shelton to win this match but both players to win a set.
