Alexander Zverev vs Taylor Fritz Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Italian Open

Former champion third seeded Alexander Zverev is attempting to reach his fourth Italian Open semi-final. He takes on the 11th seed Taylor Fritz in Wednesday's quarter-final. For the winner, there's a match in the last four against either 29th seed Alejandro Tabilo or unseeded Zhihzen Zhang. Zverev is the world number four and also in that position in the Live ATP Race. A win over Fritz will take him up a place in the latter list. The German is in his fifth ATP Tour singles quarter-final of the year and his second on clay. To get to the last eight of this outdoor clay court tournament, he's won three matches against unseeded players, all in straight sets. Tuesday's fourth round saw him beat Nuno Borges for the loss of seven games. He leads Fritz 4-3 in previous matches but this is the first time they've met on clay.

Taylor Fritz has been steadily improving on clay. Last year saw him get to the last four in Monte Carlo and he's gone one step further in 2024. The American reached the final of the BMW Open in Munich and was beaten by Jan-Lennard Struff. He followed that up with a run to the last four in the Madrid Masters and has again gone deep in Rome. Fritz is the world number 13 but up to 12th in the live rankings and tenth in the ATP Race. This is his first time past round two in Rome and he's easily beaten that  this year. Wins have come over Fabio Fognini, 24th seed Sebastian Korda and on Tuesday, the ninth-seeded Grigor Dimitrov. He won the first set, lost the second on a tie-break but only dropped one game in the decider. This is a tough assignment for him and we tip Zverev to get the victory.
