Third seed Alexander Zverev and Learner Tien are set to clash in the first round of the French Open on Monday. These two will face off for the second time in their careers, and the winner will set up a match against Jesper De Jong or Francesco Passaro. Read on for our prediction of the match.

For Zverev, this clash presents an opportunity to avenge his loss to Tien in Acapulco. Zverev has had his highs and lows in the season. He is coming from an early defeat at the Hamburg Open, beaten in three sets by Alexandre Muller.

This season, Zverev hasn’t lost a first-round match, and he reached the final in the first Grand Slam of the year.

Learner Tien shocked Zverev at the Acapulco Open in February, beating the German in straight sets. He will be eyeing a repeat of the same here, though he has managed just two wins in the 12 matches that came after beating the German.

Tien is coming from a three-set first-round defeat by Kei Nishikori at the Geneva Open. That was his second straight defeat after exiting the Rome Masters in the second round.

The American has suffered defeat in five of his last six matches, getting him here as the underdog. Tien has suffered opening round defeats in seven ATP events this year.
