Casper Ruud is the eighth seed at Wimbledon and faces qualifier Alex Bolt in his first match. For the winner, there's a second round match against unseeded opposition, either Dominik Koepfer or Fabio Fognini.

Ruud is seeded but hasn't got a great record on grass courts. He's made it to the second round for the past two years but that's the furthest he's ever reached in this tournament. Ruud is eighth in the live rankings but fourth in the ATP Race but mainly due to his clay court results.

He's not played in any of the grass court warm-up tournaments that have been held in the past month or so. Nor has he ever reached a grass court final. In 2023 he also just played this tournament.

Alex Bolt is down at 234th in the live rankings but he has a better record on grass than his opponent. The Australian was the runner-up in Ilkley in 2017 and won the Nottingham Open three years ago.

This year has seen him win two grass court tournaments held on the World Tennis Tour circuit. He reached the second round of this tournament in 2021 and won three matches to qualify for this year's main draw.

He nearly didn't make it though as it was a real struggle in the final qualifying round. He lost the first two sets to Leandro Riedi but fought back to win the match. We believe there will be over 3.5 sets played in this match.
