18th-place Queens Park Rangers host second-place Leeds United in Friday Night’s Championship action. There’s plenty at stake for both sides in this game. A win for Queens Park Rangers would ensure that Marti Cifuentes’ team remain in the Championship after a tough season. QPR have been plagued by inconsistency throughout the campaign and it is a run of 8 wins in their last 17 games that has likely saved them from the drop. The eighth win in that run came on Saturday with a 1-0 home victory over Preston, a game which officially ended Preston’s playoff hopes and put QPR just three points from safety. Goalscoring has been a real problem for the London side, with just 41 goals in their 44 Championship games this season, the third fewest in the division. That could be problematic as they come up against a team with the best defensive record in the division on Friday evening.

Leeds have conceded just 37 goals in their 44 league games this campaign, but they did ship three goals in Monday Night’s exciting 4-3 win away to Middlesbrough. That fixture, the same as this one, was a must-win game for the Elland Road team. Especially if they are to enhance their prospects of a top two finish and automatic promotion, thus avoiding the dreaded playoffs. They sit second at present, a point ahead of Ipswich who have a game in hand and six ahead of Southampton who also have a game in hand. One positive for Daniel Farke’s team is that they now have the best goal difference in the division (+43) and given how tight things are at the top of the table, that could prove crucial at the end of the season.
