ATP 250 Almaty: which player will win the title in Kazakhstan?

ATP 250 Almaty: an unmissable event in 2025
Since 2020, Kazakhstan has hosted an ATP tournament and after four editions in the capital between 2020 and 2023 (in Astana and Nur-Sultan), the organisers have decided to move the tournament to the south of the country and the city of Almaty, located in the Tian Shan mountains.
It is a magnificent setting for the players who have chosen to participate in this ATP 250 tournament and who will be looking to follow in the footsteps of players such as Novak Djokovic, Adrian Mannarino and Karen Khachanov, winners in 2022, 2023 and 2024.
This year, eight players from the world's top 40 will be present in Almaty, a very balanced draw for our tennis predictions, ensuring suspense until next Sunday when the winner of this ATP 250 Almaty will be crowned!
Karen Khachanov on track for a double?
As defending champion, Karen Khachanov will be the number one favourite for the 2025 edition. The Russian, who had a great summer, has just suffered a setback on the Asian tour with two defeats in his opening matches. These defeats will have allowed the world number 10 to rest and prepare physically for the end of the season, where he will have points to defend to maintain his place in the top 10. But if Karen Khachanov plays at the same level as he did in the middle of the summer, then he will be the number one favourite to succeed himself.
Our ATP 250 Almaty winner prediction: Karen Khachanov to win.
After his gruelling Asian tour, can Daniil Medvedev keep up the momentum in Almaty?
A semi-finalist in Beijing and Shanghai, Daniil Medvedev played his best tennis of the season during the Asian leg. But physically, the Russian seemed to be struggling at times, as evidenced by his withdrawal in the Chinese capital. The world number 18 will not have had much time to travel to Kazakhstan and start his tournament (he is expected to be on court on Tuesday or Wednesday) and even though Daniil Medvedev remains a clear contender for the final victory in Almaty, his physical condition forces us to remain cautious.
A stake to place on Gabriel Diallo
A quarter-finalist in Shanghai, Gabriel Diallo has regained stability in his tennis during the last few weeks of competition. The Canadian is finishing his first full year on the circuit and, while his progress is evident, his lack of consistency has been a problem for the world number 35. Winner of his first tournament this year in Hertogenbosch, Gabriel Diallo is an outsider this week in Kazakhstan, but his performances in Asia have allowed him to regain confidence ahead of the final sprint of 2025. He won his first match by easily defeating local player Amir Omarkhanov (6-3, 6-1).
