The first round of the hard court Shanghai Masters sees two unseeded players facing each other. Zhizhen Zhang is up against Zizou Bergs with the winner facing ninth seed Grigor Dimitrov next. Here's our match prediction.

World number 41 Zhizhen Zhang reached the final of the hard court tournament played in Hangzhou last month. He lost in the final to Marin Cilic but both sets went to a tie-break.

With little time between that final and his opening round match in the China Open, it's not surprising he lost in three sets to Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. He looks to bounce back to winning ways in Shanghai.

His form on hard courts hasn't been that consistent though and aside from Hangzhou, he's only reached one other quarter-final on this surface in 2024.  Over 20.5 games have been played in his last three matches.

Another long match looks to be possible against the Belgian Zizou Bergs. His opponent is 73rd in the live rankings and also made a first round exit in his most recent tournament, losing in three sets to Lorenzo Musetti in Beijing.

Bergs had won two qualifying matches before losing to the sixth seed. He's just one place below his career-high and has shown some good form in recent weeks with wins in the Davis Cup.

He's yet to make it to the last eight of an ATP Tour hard court tournament this year. His best results on this surface came when getting to the semi-finals of a Challenger Tour event. We go for over 20.5 games to be played here.
