Matteo Berrettini will meet Yannick Hanfmann in the semi-finals of the tour championship in Kitzbuhel this Friday. The winner in this first meeting between the two will take on Sebastian Baez, Pedro Martinez, Facundo Diaz Acosta or Hugo Gaston in the final. Here’s our preview of the match and a prediction.
This isn’t Hanfmann’s first time in the last four in Austria. The 2020 Kitzbuhel finalist was last in the semis here two seasons ago. To make it to this stage, he defeated Thiago Seyboth Wild in straight sets. It was the second time that he won against the Brazilian in this tournament.

Matteo Berrettini is in sizzling form and arrives for this encounter on an eight-match winning streak. All his eight wins were on clay and in straight sets. The Italian arrived in Kitzbuhel off the back of title success in Gstaad.
He has taken advantage of that momentum here, bringing him two wins away from back-to-back tour title victories. To qualify for the semi-finals, the nine-time tour champion defeated the wildcard Nicolas Moreno.
That was his 13th victory on clay in 14 outings on the surface. Berrettini has now compiled a 23-6 record and has contested four tour finals across the top tour levels. Three were on the tour and the two he won were on clay. The 28-year-old has returned to the ATP top 50 and is now placed 46th in the live ranking.
