The West Indies will look to draw first blood when they play their Group C match against Scotland on Saturday at the Eden Gardens stadium in Kolkata. This is match #2 of the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup between the Scots and the Windies, and our prediction is Shimron Hetymer over 22.5 runs.
The Windies qualified as one of the top seven teams from the previous tournament, excluding the hosts. Scotland replaced Bangladesh, based on a higher T20I ranking, after the Asian side withdrew.
Scotland were last seen in the Europe Region Final, where they finished fourth with only three points (W1, NR1, L2). That included defeats to Italy and Jersey in the last two games they played.
The Scots warmed up with a game against Namibia in Bengaluru that they lost by six runs. Only Mark Watt (3-0-19-1) impressed with the ball, as Scotland conceded 226 for 4. Brandon McMullen (95 off 39 balls) almost got them over the line in the chase.
The West Indies played out series against Afghanistan and South Africa recently, losing both by 2-1 scorelines. Interestingly, they won the final game of both series.
Captain Shai Hope and Shimron Hetmyer will be their key batters along with Sherfane Rutherford, while bowling looks thin in the pace department for the West Indies.

Our West Indies vs Scotland Prediction
It’s a World Cup that they never planned for, but Bangladesh’s ouster gave Scotland a chance. They may treat the group matches against Italy and Nepal as winnable. The West Indies may not be among the favourites to win the title but are surely tipped to make it out of the group.
This is a format that the Windies have once owned, thanks to their globe-trotting T20 freelancers. That’s no longer the case, but a certain Shimron Hetmyer may still look to leave a mark. Our West Indies vs Scotland prediction is Shimron Hetmyer over 22.5 runs.
