The first of five ODIs between New Zealand and India kicks off at Eden Park on Wednesday morning. The Men in Blue have won eight of their last 10 ODIs against this opponent, and our prediction is that they will open this series with a victory.
New Zealand will be hoping to bounce back here after a disappointing T20I series. They lost the series after losing the first three games but ended on an upward trajectory with two wins.
The Black Caps will utilise a split ODI squad for this series. Finn Allen, Lockie Ferguson, and Tim Seifert have been recalled to the white-ball team, while Rachin Ravindra is back from injury.
The hosts won their last ODI series 3-2 against the West Indies back in July and beat India in a three-match series on the road back in January.
Meanwhile, India would not have forgotten that loss in January, as it was their first-ever defeat to the Black Caps on home soil, and they will be determined to get their revenge this month.
Prasidh Krishna was a late omission from the India squad due to a hamstring issue, with young pacer Auqib Nabi brought in as the replacement. Veterans Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli headline India’s squad for this series.
The Men in Blue have been in mixed form in ODIs of late, having edged the West Indies 2-1 in September after losing to England 2-1 in July.

Our New Zealand vs India Prediction
New Zealand may have the psychological advantage coming into this series, having beaten India on their home turf at the start of the year, and winning their final two matches in the T20I leg of this series.
However, India did step off the gas in those last two games, having already secured the series win, and the Men in Blue will have the likes of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli back in their squad for this match. Our New Zealand vs India prediction is India wins.
