The West Indies will look to take a definitive step towards the Super 8 stage of the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup when they play Nepal on matchday three. This match in Mumbai between the first-placed Windies and the last-placed Rhinos comes with our prediction of Shimron Hetmyer scoring at least 26 runs.

The Windies have four points (W2) with a comfortable net run rate (1.625), seeing them lead the group. Having already dispatched the closest contenders, England, a win here for the West Indies will almost confirm their top-two finish from the group.

Nepal had a rollicking start to the tournament, nearly beating England in their opening game. Italy's thrashing of them in the next game brought them back to earth. The Himalayan nation is almost out of reckoning for a top-two finish but will look to go down firing. Can Nepal upset the calculations of the West Indies? West Indies - Nepal: Form Analysis

The West Indies started the tournament on the front foot, defeating Scotland by 35 runs. If that wasn’t enough for others to sit and take notice, the Windies defeated England by 30 runs. That victory almost made sure that the Windies finish in the top two.

With Italy waiting for them in the final group game, the West Indies can afford a loss, although that’s out of the question. They come here with seven wins from their last nine T20I World Cup games and can’t afford to lose momentum.

Nepal won two of the three T20Is they played against the West Indies.

Those victories came against a second-rung team, so Nepal won’t be too gung-ho about their chances. The Rhinos gave a good account of themselves by giving a fright to England in a four-run loss. They couldn’t build on that and lost by 10 wickets to Italy.

Nepal have lost 11 of the 14 T20Is they played against Test nations, but two of the three wins have come against the Windies. The other was way back in 2014 against Afghanistan, so Nepal will have to battle past recent history to get a win here.

West Indies & Nepal Squad Analysis

West Indies fielded nearly the same team for both their games, with Roston Chase and Matthew Forde playing one match each. There’s no reason for the Windies to change the playing XI, although Sherfane Rutherford’s injury could force their hand.

Rutherford has been their best batter in the tournament (102 runs, SR 185.45), while Shimron Hetmyer has been their enforcer. Among the bowlers, Romario Shepherd has six wickets (ER 6.75) and Gudakesh Motie has four (ER 7.75), leading their charge.

The West Indies have hit 24 maximums in their two matches so far.

Nepal also made just one change from their first match, and Sher Malla was replaced by Lalit Rajbanshi for the second game. They may revert back to Malla, as Rajbanshi conceded 19 runs off his only over.

The Rhinos’ batsmen haven’t fired yet, with only Rohit Paudel and Dipendra Airee aggregating more than 50 in this tournament. The bowlers have struggled for impact, with only four Nepal bowlers among the wickets.

Our West Indies vs Nepal Prediction

When these sides met in a three-game T20I series in the UAE last September, the Windies played with a secondary team and lost 2-1 to Nepal. That may not be a precursor to what could be dished out here, especially as the West Indies have their big guns firing in this tournament. Shimron Hetmyer seems to be enjoying the role that the now-retired Nicholas Pooran performed.

The odds market is leaned heavily towards a Windies’ win, and there’s little value in backing that. Our West Indies vs Nepal prediction is Shimron Hetmyer over 25.5 runs.

West Indies vs Nepal Alternative Predictions

Gudakesh Motie West Indies top bowler

Odds 3.75
With a new-found rhythm and adding a new range of wrist spinners, Gudakesh Motie is proving to be quite a handful. The Windies left-arm spinner has taken three wickets in two of his last three T20Is, both times ending up as his team’s highest wicket taker.

The 20 teams were divided into four groups of five teams each.

Group A: India, Pakistan, United States, Netherlands, and Namibia.

Group B: Australia, Sri Lanka, Ireland, Zimbabwe, and Oman.

Group C: England, West Indies, Nepal, Italy, and Scotland.

Group D: New Zealand, South Africa, Afghanistan, Canada, and United Arab Emirates.

This is the third match for both the West Indies and Nepal in this tournament. West Indies will finish their group engagements after this with a game against Italy at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on 19th February. Nepal finish their group stage engagements with a match against Scotland at this venue on the 17th.

The 20 qualifying teams were divided into four groups of five each. In the group stage, each team plays each of the other teams in the group once in a round-robin format, and the top two teams in each group will advance to the Super 8 stage.

In the Super 8s, the teams would be placed into two groups of four teams each. Prior to the tournament, the ICC announced the eight seeded teams based on the ICC T20I rankings, who will be placed in predetermined positions in the Super 8 stage, irrespective of their position in the group stage. If an unseeded team qualifies at the expense of a seeded team, it will take the position of the corresponding seeded team that fails to qualify from their group. In the Super 8 stage, each team will play against each of the other teams in the group once. The top two teams from each group will advance to the knockout stage, which consists of two semi-finals, the winners of which face off in the final. No points would be carried over between stages.
