South African heavyweights Bulls play host to high-flying Bordeaux Begles at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Saturday’s Champions Cup clash. Begles sit at the apex of Group 1 while Bulls are third having garnered 10 points in the competition thus far. Begles have already sealed their place in the Champions Cup Round of 16 while Bulls are yet to book a place in the playoffs. The hosts record so far in the competition reads two wins, against Saracens and Bristol, while they have lost to Lyon. Bulls are yet to suffer a Champions Cup defeat at home since joining the competition two years ago. Positive news for Bulls as they head into the clash will be the return of versatile back-line player Willie le Roux after a rest. A blow was however delivered with the news that Tighthead prop Wilco Louw will sit out of the clash with injury.

Bordeaux Begles are the surprise package in the Champions Cup this season with many having written them off before the campaign. They have however delivered shocks after winning all their three pool games to qualify for the Round of 16. The victories have come against Connacht, Bristol and Saracens. The visitors are yet to secure top spot though and might send a strong team to South Africa despite already sealing qualification. Defeat coupled with a win for second-placed Lyon against Saracens will see Begles miss out on the top spot in the pool. In the Top 14, Begles are also flying high as they sit second, just four points off log leaders Racing 92.
