Ninth seed Victoria Mboko takes on 19th seed Madison Keys in the third round at the French Open. This is their second meeting of the season. A former Grand Slam winner, Keys has won 77% of her matches on clay, and in our prediction, we’ll be backing her.

Mboko has equalled her best-ever run at Roland Garros by making it to the third round. On her debut last season, the Canadian was eliminated from the tournament at this very stage.

To advance to this round, Mboko dug her heels in to outduel Katerina Siniakova. She won in three sets, and in two hours and 39 minutes after clawing her way back from an opening set loss. A winner of 24 matches in 32 outings, the world number nine is 5-2 on clay.

Madison Keys has qualified for the second week of competition five times previously at Roland Garros. The American, who made her debut in this major in 2013, produced a semi-final finish in 2018.

A quarter-finalist last season, Keys has had a strong week so far in her return to Paris. The one-time slam winner hasn’t lost a set in advancing to this round.

She defeated Antonia Ruzic by the loss of eight games last time out. Despite the strong week, she has dropped to 25th in the live ranking. Keys has compiled an 18-8 record and has registered 10 victories on clay.
