Top seed Victoria Mboko takes on seventh seed and compatriot Leylah Fernandez in the quarter-finals in Strasbourg. The winner of their second career meeting will play Daria Kasatkina or Jacqueline Cristian in the semis. Fernandez hasn’t just lost three of five matches but also fell in her only meeting with Mboko, which places this prediction in Fernandez's favor.

Mboko overpowered Lois Boisson in the previous round. She won in straight sets to mark her debut in Strasbourg. The teenage sensation had lost back-to-back fixtures in the run-up to her battle with the Frenchwoman.

Fernandez will remember that loss as she plots to win her first quarter-final of the year. The Canadian, who is on her third appearance in Strasbourg, has lost both quarter-final ties she has played.

To advance to this round, the 23-year-old outlasted Magdalena Frech in three sets. She has now recorded eight of her 11 wins on clay and is up to 22nd in the live ranking.
