Veronika Kudermetova is seeded seventh for the hard court Guadalajara Open but not the favorite in this match. Her second round opponent is unseeded Camila Osorio. Read our match prediction below.

Kudermetova is the world number 26 but struggling for form at present. The Russian received a bye in the first round of this WTA 500 tournament. This is her first match since losing in round one of the US Open to Elise Mertens.

The 27-year-old won the first set in that match but ended up losing to the Belgian. That was her fourth consecutive defeat and she hasn't won a match since a grass court tournament played in late June.

Not since the clay court tournament held in Charleston has she won two successive matches. Only five of her 15 hard court matches have been won in 2024. Winning this will take her into her first hard court quarter-final of the year.

Camila Osorio was in action on Monday and beat Hailey Baptiste in the first round. That was won in straight sets with her opponent winning only five games. That ended a run of two consecutive losses for the Colombian.

The 22-year-old is 81st in the live rankings and 63rd in the WTA Race. That latter ranking puts her six places ahead of her opponent. Her best results this year have come on clay with a title won in Bogata this year.
