12th seed Ugo Humbert hopes a return to hard courts will produce a return to form. He faces fellow Frenchman Arthur Fils in the first round of the National Bank Open in Montreal. Here's our prediction for this all-French clash.

Humbert is the world number 15 but was as high as 13th in April. He has won two ATP Tour hard court titles this year with success in Marseille and Dubai. He's 17th in the Live ATP Race so will need a strong end to the season if he wants to qualify for the ATP Tour Finals.

The Frenchman showed some form when reaching the last 16 at Wimbledon. He lost in round two at the Paris Olympics but now he's back on hard courts. Humbert leads Fils 3-0 in previous meetings, the only one played on a hard court was in Cincinnati 12 months ago.

Arthur Fils is the world number 23, three places lower than the career-high he achieved last month. The 20-year-old recently won the Hamburg clay court tournament with wins over Holger Rune and Alexander Zverev.

He didn't build on that though and lost in the first round at the Olympics. His form on hard courts was good at the start of the year with a quarter-final in Hong Kong and making it to the last four in Auckland. He didn't beat any top 50 ranked players though. We tip Humbert to win this match.
