Udinese have sunk dramatically following their strong start to the season and will hope for some reprieve when hosting Genoa in Serie A. The Bianconeri will welcome I Rossoblù this Sunday at the Blue Energy Stadium and below is our preview and prediction for the match.

Earlier in the season, after four rounds, Udinese topped the league standings with 10 points. But in the nine matches that followed, they’ve only been able to add seven points.

This run sees them enter the weekend in ninth spot. Their recent 1-1 draw with Empoli was positive in that it ended their run of three defeats.

Genoa posted a 2-0 win at home the last time these teams met, to put up a five-game unbeaten run against Udinese. However, the earlier four meetings had ended in draws.

Coming into this game, the visitors were minutes away from a win in their 2-2 draw with Cagliari. On new manager Patrick Vieira’s first game in charge, it took an 88th minute penalty to deny Genoa.

They will be glad to have kept their undefeated run that now reads three matches though with just one win.

Now the challenge on their hands will be to improve on their away form, having lost three of the last five league games on the road.
