Second seed Jannik Sinner takes on the 12th seeded Stefanos Tsitsipas in the Monte Carlo Masters semifinals. Sinner reached this stage last year in this Masters 1000 tournament but was beaten by Holger Rune. The Italian got revenge for that in this year's quarterfinal but needed to go to a final set to do so. He won the first set, lost the second on a tie-break but won the deciding one for the loss of three games. That was the first set that Sinner has lost in this tournament. His win has seen him regain second placed in the overall live rankings and he remains top of the ATP Race. He's only lost one match this year but this is going to be a tough battle for him. He trails Tsitsipas 5-3 in previous meetings and 3-1 in matches played on clay.

Stefanos Tsitsipas is only two wins away from winning this outdoor clay court title for the third time in four years. He is a Monte Carlo resident so it's clearly a tournament that brings out the best in him. He hasn't had the best of years to date and a win here will take him into his first final of the year. He's up to 11th in the live rankings and beating Sinner would see him climb another place. All four of his matches this week have been won in straight sets. In his quarterfinal he defeated Karen Khachanov in straight sets for the loss of only six games. He might not win this match but we believe that the Greek can at least win one set against Sinner.
