The Rugby Championship gets underway this weekend. World champions South Africa also won this title in 2024 and begin their defence with a home match against Australia. Can the Wallabies spring a surprise? Read our match prediction below.
The Springboks won last year's Rugby Championship by ten points. Five of their six games against New Zealand, Australia and Argentina were won. The other saw them lose in Argentina by just a single point.
They beat Australia home and away last year. That extended their winning run over the Wallabies to four, last losing to them three years ago. They last lost at home to Australia in 2010 and have won 37 of their 48 home games against the Australians.
South Africa have won each of their last eight matches, most recently beating Georgia 55-10 last month.
Australia had a miserable Rugby Championship last year. They finished bottom with just five points, 19 behind South Africa. Their only success was an away win in Argentina last August. Not since 2015 have they won this tournament.
They won their last match, beating the British and Irish Lions but that was their only win in the three-match series. We tip South Africa to make a winning start and win on a -11.5 points handicap.

Our South Africa vs Australia Prediction
South Africa will look to get off to a winning start in their defence of the Rugby Championship. The world champions continue to be in good form with each of their last eight matches ending in victory. They have won four in a row against Australia and it's 15 years since they lost to them on home soil.
It was a total nightmare for Australia in last year's Rugby Championship with one win and five defeats. They battled hard against the Lions but lack consistency. Our South Africa v Australia prediction is South Africa to win on a -11.5 points handicap.
