Both of these teams have been eliminated from the 2023 Men's World Handball Championships. There are still ranking positions to be fought for as Serbia take on the Netherlands in Group III of the main round. Serbia are third in the group ahead of the Netherlands in fourth but both have the same number of points. The Dutch side have to win this to finish third in the group behind Germany and Norway who battle it out for top spot. The Netherlands are in the main round for the first time but their dreams of a quarter final ended on Saturday. They lost to the Germans 33-26 to remain on four points and unable to reach the last eight. It's been a good tournament for them though and the only two losses sustained have been against the top two in this group.

Serbia beat Argentina 28-22 on Saturday to climb above the Netherlands in this main round group. They last reached the last 16 of these championships ten years ago and only finished 18th in the 2019 world championships. After missing out in 2021, Serbia finished second behind Germany in their preliminary round group. They beat Algeria and Qatar but lost to the Germans, though only by a single goal. This main round group has seen them give away a lead to lose to Norway by three goals and then defeat Argentina who are bottom of the group. This should be a close game but it's the Serbs who can get the win to clinch third place in the group.
