It's April and Jannik Sinner has still only lost one match in 2024. The Italian is seeded second in Monte Carlo and takes on unseeded Sebastian Korda in round two. For the winner there's a third round match against either Jan-Lennard Struff or Borna Coric, both of whom are unseeded. Sinner is the world number two but down to third in the live rankings. That's because he's defending the points earned when getting to the semifinals here last year. Only Carlos Alcaraz has beaten Sinner this year with 22 matches and three titles being won. He's won one ATP clay court title, that was in Croatia two years ago. This is the third match between the pair and they are level at 1-1 but both were played on hard courts.

Sebastian Korda is 26th in the live rankings so should be seeded at Roland Garros this year. He got to the third round in Monte Carlo two years ago, his only other appearance in this outdoor clay court Masters 1000 tournament. The American is 36th in the Live ATP Race and had a good win in the first round of this tournament. Only three games were dropped as he beat Alejandro Davidovich-Fokina. He's already equalled the number of clay court wins he had last year. 2023 saw him win just one of his four matches on this surface. We believe he'll have to wait for a second win of 2024 and tip Sinner to win this in straight sets.
