Saracens will welcome Newcastle Falcons to the StoneX Stadium in Saturday’s Premiership Rugby clash, both sides seeking to bounce back. The hosts are currently on a slump that has seen them drop to fifth while Falcons are rooted at the foot of the standings. A place in the playoff semi-final will be on Saracens’ minds as they are currently two points off the top four. The reigning champions went into Christmas on the back of a narrow 22-20 defeat to Sale Sharks. Their patchy run of form saw them register a win and loss to Connacht and Bulls in the Champions Cup. Saracens need to arrest their recent slump having suffered successive defeats in Premiership Rugby, losing to Saints earlier in the month.

Falcons are currently in abysmal form having suffered 11 consecutive defeats and are without a win since early October. This has left them in pursuit of their maiden Premiership Rugby win this season. Falcons’ sorry form has seen them collect just four points in the opening nine games of the season. Their league position comes as no surprise as they have conceded the most points (286) and scored the least (130). Last time out the Falcons came out unstuck against Bristol, narrowly missing out on the bonus point in the 13-21 defeat. The slight positive ahead of the Saracens clash is the signing of centre Jordan Holgate from Jersey Reds. He will be a quick fix having trained with the club for months since Jersey Reds entered administration.
