Vannes are back in Top 14 after winning promotion from Pro Division 2 last season. They are 13th in the table after losing both of their opening games of the new season. This weekend sees them host eighth-placed Stade Toulousain who are the defending champions. It's going to be tough for the home side and our prediction is Stade Toulousain wins on a -18 handicap.
The home side are a bit of a yo-yo club. They won promotion to Top 14 but then finished bottom in the 24-25 season and made an immediate return to Pro Division 2. Vannes won that last season and are back in Top 14, but have already lost their first two matches.
They began with a 29-20 defeat at Castres Olympique and then last week were beaten 26-12 at home by Montpellier, though they led by a point at half-time.
Stade Toulousain have won Top 14 for the past four seasons. They lost their opening match of this new season, being beaten 30-27 at Stade Rochelais. That was a disappointing result considering they led the match by 14 points at the break. Last weekend went better with a 48-12 home win over European champions Bordeaux Begles, winning the first half 36-0.
