The 2026 Indian Premier League season is here, and kicking off the action is the Royal Challengers Bengaluru taking on the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday. RCB won their first title last year, while SRH finished in sixth place. Check out our match prediction below.

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru ended the group stage of the competition top of the table last year with 18 points (W9 L4 1NR) and with the best net run rate (0.372).

They then defeated the Punjab Kings in the eliminator and again in the final by six runs. Virat Kohli finished as the team’s top scorer with 657 runs, while Josh Hazlewood ended with 22 wickets.

Notably, Hazlewood will miss the team’s first few matches this season due to injury, and Yash Dayal has been ruled out of the competition. RCB lost their only match against this opponent by 42 runs last year.

Meanwhile, the Sunrisers Hyderabad lost six of their first eight games last season and failed to reach the Playoffs despite a strong end to the campaign, winning four of their final five matches.

Heinrich Klaasen was the team’s top scorer with 487 runs, while Pat Cummins was their standout performer with the ball, taking 16 scalps in his 14 matches.

However, Cummins will only join the team around the midway point of this campaign, and Jack Edwards is ruled out for the competition with a foot injury.

Our Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Sunrisers Hyderabad Prediction

The Sunrisers Hyderabad will be looking to make a better start to this season than last, but while they do have plenty of batting firepower, Pat Cummins' absence is a major concern, given their opponents’ strength with the bat.

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru finally brought an end to their wait for the title and will be determined to go back-to-back. The first round of matches will give us a clearer indication of what to expect from the teams this year, but we fancy the champs to get off to a winning start. Our Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Sunrisers Hyderabad prediction is Royal Challengers Bengaluru wins.
