It’s one versus two from the regular season as the Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Titans meet in the final of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) on Sunday in Ahmedabad. This match at the Narendra Modi Stadium between the 1st-placed RCB and the 2nd-placed GT is likely to see the defending champions continue their recent head-to-head dominance. That’s why our match prediction is Gujarat Titans' highest opening partnership.
Bengaluru topped the group stages of this season with 18 points (W9, L5), edging out both Gujarat and Hyderabad on net run rate. They then defeated the Gujarat Titans in the first qualifier by 92 runs to become the first finalist of this edition. This is the fifth IPL final for the Bengaluru franchise.
The Titans were second in the group stage with 18 points (W9, L5) but lost out to the Royal Challengers in the first qualifiers. They breezed past Rajasthan Royals by seven wickets in the second qualifier on Friday. This will be the third IPL final for the 2022 champions. Royal Challengers Bengaluru - Gujarat Titans: Form Analysis
Bengaluru had nine wins this season in the group stages before winning the first qualifier. That victory made it four in their last five, so the Royal Challengers are definitely the ‘form team’ going into this final.
That said, the defending champions will be worried about their form on the road or neutral venues. They have lost three of the last four such games, adding some anxious faces to the dugout. Interestingly, this was supposed to be played at the Chinnaswamy Stadium as their home game, but the venue was shifted owing to administrative issues.
Bengaluru have four wins from their last six matches against Gujarat.
The Titans have won seven of their last ten games, but intriguingly, two of their three defeats in that sequence have come against the Royal Challengers. Playing at this venue could be a positive omen, as they won their last four games here.
Gujarat will be cautious about their knockout record, having lost three of their last four in this competition. This run was preceded by a sequence of three wins out of four in knockout games, so the Titans will hope to turn things around here.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru & Gujarat Titans Squad Analysis
RCB have a settled top-order, with their batting mettle once again likely to be the focus. Virat Kohli (600 runs), Rajat Patidar (486), and Devdutt Padikkal (463) lead their batting charts.
Their bowlers have been fantastic, not the least of whom is Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who is the second-best bowler of the season with 26 wickets. As for the team composition, it would be interesting to see if Philip Salt gets into the XI in place of Venkatesh Iyer, while Jacob Duffy’s use could depend on the type of surface.
Shubman Gill averages 49.07 in 31 IPL matches at this venue.
That’s good news for Gujarat fans, who have seen Gill (722 runs) and Sai Sudharsan (710) remain second and third in the list of highest scorers this season. Among the bowlers, Kagiso Rabada (28 wickets) leads the Purple Cap race.
The challenge, though, is that beyond the top three, the Titans’ batters have struggled for consistency. That’s underlined by how they are lining up with Nishant Sindhu – a bowling all-rounder – as a batsman in their playing XI.
