New Rennes manager Jorge Sampaoli’s brief is to arrest the team’s freefall and he’ll hope to do just that in his first home game. Les Rennais will welcome Saint-Etienne to Roazhon Park for this Match Day 13 clash. Let’s look at the preview and prediction of the match. 

Rennes have been on the decline and this season hasn’t been great so far. Six losses from the first 11 matches were enough to persuade the management to change things and Julien Stephan was axed. 

The new man got a baptism of fire, losing 1-0 away to Lille. That was a third straight defeat and they also failed to score in three.

Saint-Etienne, on their part, have worked on their shortcomings and by their recent results, sit above Rennes, two points to the good. The visitors have also opened up a three-point gap from the relegation zone. 

In their most recent match, they posted a very important win in beating Montpellier 1-0. That marked their fourth league win of the season and now it is Rennes dominance over them that they’ll look to address.
