The Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings will meet in Match 3 of the 2026 Indian Premier League at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Monday. RR finished in ninth place last season, while CSK ended bottom of the table. Let’s get into the match prediction. 

After claiming third place in the 2024 edition of the IPL, the Rajasthan Royals were unable to follow up last year, finishing with just eight points in their 14 group-stage matches (W4 L10). 

RR’s bowling department was their biggest issue last term, as none of their bowlers finished in the top 30 in the race for the Purple Cap. Yashasvi Jaiswal was the team’s best player, scoring 559 runs in 14 innings. 

The Royals beat their upcoming opponents home and away last season. Sam Curren has been ruled out of the team through injury, with Dasun Shanaka brought in as his replacement.

Meanwhile, the Chennai Super Kings were the undoubted biggest disappointment of the 2025 IPL, as they finished in last place with four wins and 10 losses, and a net run rate of -0.647. 

Unlike the Royals, CSK’s biggest downfall was their batting unit, with Shivam Dube finishing as their top scorer with just 357 runs in 14 innings. Noor Ahmed was the second-highest wicket-taker in the competition with 14 scalps. 

Aussie quick Nathan Ellis has been ruled out for the five-time champions this season, with his compatriot Spencer Johnson set to take his place in the team.
