Madison Keys, the 15th seed in Miami, will battle 23rd seed Qinwen Zheng in the third round. This is their second career meeting and comes three seasons after their first matchup. Read on for our prediction of the match.

Zheng is defending 215 points after making the quarter-finals in last year’s edition in Miami. It was her best result at this event.

The Chinese star made a winning return to the tournament as she defeated former champion Sloane Stephens in straight sets. Zheng, who made her return to the tour last month after a lengthy injury layoff, has won three of five matches.

Being out of the tour since September saw Zheng drop out of the top 10. She is currently in 32nd place after dropping six more places in the live ranking.

Madison Keys defeated Zheng when they first met. Though this was three years ago, it happened on home soil in Washington. She will be looking for a similar outcome as she looks to challenge for her first Miami title.

Keys has been competing in Miami since 2011 but has never made it past the quarter-finals and has made the last eight just once. Twice in her last three appearances, she has been eliminated in the third round.

The 31-year-old has been inconsistent this term, and her performances have led to her dropping out of the top 10. Currently the world number 18, Keys defeated Elena-Gabriela Ruse by the loss of just two games in the last round.
