PSG vs Lorient Prediction & Betting Tips - Ligue 1

PSG will begin their quest for another Ligue 1 title with a home match against Lorient on Saturday. The French giants’ recent matches have been overshadowed by Kylian Mbappe’s future. However new manager Luis Enrique will be keen not to let that overshadow their league opener. Neymar is also not likely to feature, and with Lionel Messi having left, this could be a much-changed PSG side. The Parisians finished preseason with a 3-0 win over Jeonbuk Motors, ending a run of three matches without a win. It is time for competitive action and PSG will remember losing to Lorient in their last meeting, at home. Four of their last five meetings have produced over 2.5 goals, and both teams scored in the last five. In their closing two matches in Ligue 1 last season, PSG failed to win. By then they had already bagged the league title. In their last five league matches though, both teams scored in four.

Lorient have been growing in strength each season since their promotion to Ligue 1. Last season they finished 10th after managing 15 wins in 38 matches. Another top half finish will be their target, and they will hope to frustrate the champions again here. Les Merlus were among the teams that beat PSG last season. They’ve caused the champions some discomforts in recent meetings and will eye another top performance here. In their last meeting, they beat PSG 3-1 for their second win over Les Parisiens in five meetings. In preseason, Lorient have posted a good scoring run. The only time they failed to score in the four matches was in the final game, a 2-0 loss to Bournemouth. Four times in the last five matches, they scored two or more goals. Both teams have scored in three of Lorient’s last five matches. It is a similar case in Ligue 1 where both teams have scored in four of their last five matches.
