Portugal and Belgium still have a lot to play for in Group A3 of the Nations League. They will face off in the final round of matches, hosts Portugal in third place and Belgium fourth. As both seek to avoid relegation, below is our prediction of the match.
These two have been the weakest in the group. Portugal are smarting from a 6-0 humbling by England and will hope to rise at home. They are looking to avoid relegation, and avoiding defeat will ensure they stay in League A.
The loss to England was their third straight defeat, but their last win was against Belgium.
The Belgians are also coming from a heavy defeat. In their case, they were hit 5-1 at home by Spain, failing to build on their surprise 3-2 win against England. If there’s an area that has really let Belgium down, it has to be their defence.
The team has conceded five goals twice in the last three matches and, in total, 16 in this tournament. In their first meeting with Portugal, Belgium suffered a 1-0 loss at home, and here they are plotting an unlikely revenge.
They have managed just one win in six away games in the Nations League. The visitors also lost in their last two matches against Portugal.
