The Philadelphia 76ers host the Boston Celtics at the Wells Fargo Center for this NBA Eastern Conference heavyweight battle. Many will be looking at this one as a potential playoff matchup down the line with the postseason just around the corner. The Boston Celtics hold the second seed currently and could still possibly chase down the top-seeded Milwuakee Bucks, who they trail by two games in the standings. Boston’s last outing resulted in a 122-114 home victory over the Utah Jazz, the team’s second in a row and fifth victory from the last six. This is the fourth and final meeting between these two rivals in the regular season as Boston searches for the season sweep after winning the first three against Philly. In addition to their perfect 3-0 record against the Sixers this season, Boston will likely be in high-spirits, especially after putting up 140 points away from home against the Bucks in a blowout victory just four days ago.
Philadelphia could really use a win here, moreso for morale purposes as their third seed is relatively secure with only four games remaining in the season. The 76ers are coming off a disappointing 117-104 away loss to the top-seeded Bucks on Sunday, their fourth loss in the last six games. Philadelphia will desperately want to avoid suffering consecutive defeats to the two Eastern Conference favorites just prior to the playoffs beginning. The home team holds a relatively comfortable 2.5 game lead over the fourth-place Cavs while trailing the second-place Celtics by three games. Philly will be hoping their strong home record will give them the boost they need to snap out of their funk against this Boston team.
