Pedro Martinez vs Laslo Djere Prediction & Betting Tips - Stockholm Open

Qualifier Laslo Djere takes on unseeded Pedro Martinez in the first round of the Stockholm Open. A tough task awaits the winner with fourth seed Taylor Fritz the scheduled opponent. Here's our first round prediction.

Djere is down at 113th in the rankings so had to play two qualifying round matches to reach the main draw of this indoor hard court tournament. He dropped the second set of his opening match against Adrian Andreev but then won the decider 6-0.

That was followed by a straight sets win over Hamad Medjedovic for the loss of seven games. He's at 131st in the live rankings though as he is defending all the points earned when reaching the semi-finals of this tournament last year.

Djere also made it to a semi-final in his most recent tournament. That was on the Challenger Tour last month and on clay. This is his first hard court tournament since being beaten in round two of the US Open by Novak Djokovic, where he retired in the third set.

He's yet to win two successive matches in the main draw of an ATP Tour hard court event in 2024.This is his third match against Martinez and he's won the two previous ones with one of the wins on this surface.

Pedro Martinez is the world number 39 and owes that high ranking to his clay court performances. He won his most recent tournament, a Challenger clay court event held in Valencia but didn't beat any top 120 ranked players.

His most recent hard court tournament was the Shanghai Masters, losing in round one to Jakub Mensik. Only two of his last nine matches played on hard courts has been won. We tip Djere to get the win here.
