We'll have a qualifier in the last eight of the Mallorca Open. Paul Jubb takes on Adam Walton in the second round of this grass court tournament. The winner will face either unseeded Rinky Hijikata or the top seed Ben Shelton. Paul Jubb hadn't won a main draw match on the ATP Tour until he beat fellow qualifier Maximilian Marterer in the first round. He did it in style too with only three games being conceded. That win has taken the British player up to 251st in the live rankings, still well below the 196th he reached in 2022. Jubb had to win two qualifiers to get into this main draw. Wins came against Joan Nadal and then the top seed Thiago Monteiro and both were won in straight sets. This is his fourth grass court tournament of the year and he's already had a win over top 60 ranked Alex Michelsen.

Adam Walton was 107th in Monday's new ranking list. The Australian has a career-high of 95th and that was achieved last month. He's up to 101st in the live rankings after winning three matches so far this week. In the qualifying rounds, he was seeded fourth and won both his matches in straight sets. His final qualifying round opponent was the German Daniel Masur who was the eighth seed. Walton then beat Yannick Hanfmann in straight sets in round one. That was revenge after losing him in the first qualifying round in Halle last year. Like his opponent, his win was the first he'd had in an ATP Tour main draw in 2024. He'd lost all three of his grass court matches before this tournament. Jubb looks to be in the slightly better form and we tip him to win.
