After heavy defeats against the top two favourites of Group A, South Africa and Pakistan will clash on Wednesday in Birmingham with their knockout hopes on the line. This match between the ‘Women in Green’ and the ‘Proteas’ see the two teams stuck at the bottom two spots in the group that also has India, Australia, Bangladesh, and the Netherlands. With their tournament progress on the cards, is there an upset in the making?
Pakistan lost to India by 64 runs at this venue last weekend, while South Africa were thrashed by Australia by 65 runs in the opening game of the tournament.
The ‘Women in Green’ only showed occasional glimpses to limit India to 170 for 6, with Fatima Sana and Sadia Iqbal picking up two wickets each. The chase was never on, with only Muneeba Ali (41 off 35) showing a semblance of fight. It was a third defeat in a row in completed matches as Pakistan race against time to get back to form.
South Africa had three bowlers taking two wickets each, as they limited Australia to 172 for 8. Captain Laura Wolvaardt fought hard to make 44, but only two other batters got into double digits as the chase wilted under pressure. That result left them with seven defeats in their last eight T20Is played in England.

Our Pakistan vs South Africa Prediction
South Africa had a losing start to the tournament after a 65-run defeat to Australia flattened them on matchday one. The Proteas had struggled in these conditions, as their record in England as well as at this venue suggests. Pakistan struggled against India but have, over the years, troubled South Africa with six wins in their last ten T20Is.
There could be an upset on the cards if Pakistan play to their strengths and South Africa continue to be nervy, so our South Africa vs Pakistan prediction is Pakistan wins.
