Anna Blinkova also won her first-round tie in straight sets. She lost just three games against the qualifier Simona Waltert. This was only her second victory in a slow start to the year. Blinkova has lost three of the five matches she has played. Before arriving in Cluj, she had lost back-to-back matches and suffered a first-round exit in Linz. Her unconvincing form has led to her dropping out of the WTA top 50. The Russian is now ranked 51st in the live ranking. Blinkova is comfortable on indoor hard courts and has won 85 matches on the surface in her career so far. She won the title here in 2022 and this remains to be her only tour triumph.
