Novak Djokovic bids to reach the Monte Carlo Masters final for the first time in nine years. The top seed faces Casper Ruud who is seeded eighth in this outdoor clay court tournament. Djokovic has won this Masters 1000 tournament twice but not since winning that final in 2015 has he been champion here. There have been times when he’s taken a while to get into his top form on clay courts. That’s why he has had some early exits from what is usually his first clay court event of the year. The world number one has gone well this week though and is yet to drop a set. He’s lost 20 games in his three matches so far.

To reach the Monte Carlo Masters, Casper Ruud must beat Novak Djokovic for the first time. He’s lost all five of their previous meetings, including three on this surface. In each of the matches he has lost to Djokovic, he's failed to even win a set. His win over the Frenchman Ugo Humbert in the last eight took him up to seventh in the live rankings. Beating Djokovic will see him climb to sixth. He’s in his second semifinal in this tournament and has twice got to the Roland Garros final. That includes last year when losing to Djokovic. To get to the last four, Ruud has only dropped one set. That was the middle one against Humbert. We go for Djokovic to win this in straight sets.
