The Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium will host a mouth-watering matchup between two major contenders in midweek, when Nigeria meet Morocco in the semi-final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. The winner of this clash between the Super Eagles and Atlas Lions will face either Senegal or Egypt in the grand final on January 18. Check out our match prediction below!
After failing to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Nigeria entered the 2025 AFCON with one simple goal: to win the continental title for the fourth time in their history. So far, Eric Chelle’s side have risen to the occasion and enter the final four as arguably the most impressive team in the competition thanks to their star-studded attack spearheaded by Victor Osimhen.
However, the three-time champions now have to go up against the highest-ranked nation across the entire CAF region and the favourites for the title, Morocco, who are seeking their second continental crown. The North Africans also have the edge in this contest, having won three of the previous five AFCON matches against this opponent - but can they stop the rampant West Africans in this one? Let’s get into the key stats!

Nigeria - Morocco: Form Analysis
Nigeria stormed into the knockout stages of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations with a perfect three wins from three games in the group stages, including victories over Tunisia, Tanzania and Uganda.
The Super Eagles then delivered their best performance of the competition, thrashing Mozambique 4-0 in the last 16, before ousting Algeria 2-0 in the quarter-final this past weekend.
The West African nation has scored two or more in each of their five games in this competition and enter the semis as the highest-scoring team at AFCON 2025 with a staggering 14 goals.
Nigeria is the only team left in the competition with a perfect record of five wins in five games!
Meanwhile, Morocco eased into the Round of 16 by winning Group A with seven points in their three games. They defeated the Comoros 2-0 and Zambia 3-0, either side of a 1-1 stalemate against Mali.
The Atlas Lions then edged a plucky Tanzania 1-0 in the last 16, before producing a dominant performance to eliminate Cameroon 2-0 in the quarter-final. The host nation has only conceded one goal in this competition - the fewest of any of the semi-finalists.
The North African giants are now unbeaten in a whopping 22 matches across all competitions, with all but two of those games ending in victory. They have also scored two or more goals in five of their last seven games ahead of this one.

Nigeria & Morocco Squad Analysis
After scoring the opener and setting up Nigeria’s second against Algeria, Victor Osimhen now has six direct goal contributions in this competition (4 goals, 2 assists). The Super Eagles have never lost an AFCON match in which the Gala striker has scored or assisted.
Osimhen has had plenty of support so far, especially from Ademola Lookman, who has three goals and four assists - the most at AFCON 2025. Akor Adams has also contributed to four goals, netting two and setting up two.
However, Eric Chelle’s side will have to make do without the services of their skipper, Wilfred Ndidi, due to suspension, which should see Raphael Onyedika start this match. Cyriel Dessers is out injured, while Bright Osayi-Samuel has a knock and is a doubt.
Brahim Diaz is the highest goal scorer at AFCON 2025 heading into the semi-finals!
The Real Madrid attacker has five goals and has scored in every match in this competition. Four of his goals have been crucial openers, and he is now just one shy of Ahmed Farass’ AFCON record of six.
Ayoub El Kaabi has netted three times for the Atlas Lions in this tournament and set up Diaz for his goal against Cameroon. He will almost certainly be tasked with leading the line in this match.
Azzedine Ounahi, unfortunately, suffered a serious injury during the group stage that ended his AFCON campaign, while skipper Romain Saiss only saw 17 minutes of action before his campaign ended with a knee injury against the Comoros.

Our Nigeria vs Morocco Prediction
While Nigeria have kept clean sheets in both their knockout matches in this competition, their undeniable strength has been their attack, which has already scored a tournament-high 14 goals coming into this clash.
Morocco have only conceded once at AFCON 2025, but they have not come up against a forward line with the quality of the Super Eagles. Given the wealth of attacking talent on display here, we fancy both sides to get on the scoresheet. Our Nigeria vs Morocco prediction is BTTS.
