For the first time in their careers, Nicolas Jarry and Luciano Darderi will face off, meeting at the Libema Open in the first round. The winner here progresses to play Jesper de Jong or Alejandro Tabilo. We have a prediction for the match below.

A former top 20 player, Jarry is having a torrid 2025 season. He arrives at Hertogenbosch placed 150th in the world and on a losing run.

His loss in straight sets against Adrian Mannarino at the Birmingham Challenger placed him at an 8-14 record for the season. His first taste of grass in the campaign clearly didn’t go well, and he will be targeting a better outing in the Netherlands.

The Chilean meets a younger, energetic Darderi, who is having a slightly better campaign. Both players aren’t strong on grass, but Darderi, having won two of his last four matches, will feel confident of a fast start.

His preferred surface remains clay, and on it he won his second tour title, the ATP 250 event in Marrakech. Darderi is coming from a first-round loss in four sets to Sebastian Korda at the French Open.

Last year he played just five matches on grass and lost three. The Italian will take consolation from the fact that his opponent has a poor run on grass as well.
