Newcastle United can move up to third in the Premier League if they avoid defeat in their game in hand. United are fourth in the table and on Wednesday evening they host Crystal Palace who are 12th in the table. Can the Magpies get a vital home win? Here's our match prediction.
United had an excellent 4-1 home win over Manchester United on Sunday. They begin this match a point behind third-placed Nottingham Forest. A draw will take them into third on goal difference but it's three points they want from this match. A win would take them five points clear of sixth place.
It was all going well for Crystal Palace when they led 2-0 at Manchester City on Saturday. Their mood got worse though as City put five goals past them. The Eagles are five points behind eighth-position and that would take a side into Europe as long as Newcastle finish in the top eight. They had been in good form on the road before the heavy defeat at the Etihad on Saturday.

Newcastle - Crystal Palace: Form Analysis
Newcastle are in excellent form at present and a win over Palace will make it six successive wins. That includes beating Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final, a result that has already guaranteed them European football next season.
United are aiming for a return to the Champions League.
A return to the Champions League is their aim and they are currently two points clear of sixth spot. The Magpies have won nine home league games, including the last three. Ten goals have been scored in those matches with four put past both Nottingham Forest and Manchester United. The reverse fixture against Crystal Palace was played in November and ended 1-1 with the home side equalizing in the 94th minute.
Palace still have an outside chance of qualifying for European football next season. They are in the FA Cup semi-finals and could yet earn a place via their final league position. The Eagles had gone eight league and cup games before the weekend loss at Manchester City.
That defeat also ended a run of ten away league matches without defeat. Only one point has been earned from the last two though.

Jason Tindall is likely to be in temporary charge of Newcastle for this game against Crystal Palace. Eddie Howe ended up in hospital last week and Tindall stood in for the 4-1 home win over Manchester United on Sunday.
Trippier is expected to be fit.
This is a busy time of the year and Newcastle have three matches to play in the space of just six days. Player management is going to be important. Kieran Trippier had to come off against United after being injured but is expected to be fit to play on Wednesday.
Anthony Gordon made his return on Sunday coming on in the 78th minute. Will he get his place back in the starting line-up though. His replacement, Harvey Barnes has scored three goals in United's last two matches.
Crystal Palace willl want to immediately bounce back from Saturday's defeat. Whether they would have preferred a bit longer before their next game remains to be seen. At least they scored twice at City, the fifth time in six away league games they've achieved that.
Marc Guehi returns in defence but they will be missing Cheick Doucoure.
