Newcastle United are set to host Atletico Madrid at St. James' Park in a friendly clash. Both teams are still searching for their first win in the preseason. This marks the first meeting between these two sides. Who will come out on top? Let's head into the match prediction.
Newcastle United have been poor in the preseason games. At the time of writing, they have overseen four games so far and have yet to taste victory.
Eddie Howe's charges began with a 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Celtic FC. Following that result, they went on to lose two more matches in succession against Arsenal (3-2) and minnows K-League Stars (1-0).
However, the Magpies managed to stop the rot last time out against Tottenham Hotspur. They had to come from a goal down to draw 1-1 at the sound of the final whistle.
Atletico Madrid's last competitive match was on June 23 in the FIFA Club World Cup. Their fairytale debut was cut short as they made an early exit in the group stages.
The Red-Whites have not had much action in the preseason games. So far, they have only played one friendly match. It was against FC Porto, and they lost 1-0 on the road.
