A blockbuster clash is on the cards when Munster welcome Northampton Saints to Thomond Park in Saturday’s Champions Cup clash. Northampton Saints rest at the summit of the pool with 14 points while Munster are third with eight points to their name. The visitors have already sealed a place in the competition’s Round of 16 while Munster are seeking a victory to book their place. The Irish side have only picked up one win this season that came last time out against an off-colour RC Toulonnais. The other two games yielded a draw against Aviron Bayonnais and a loss to Exeter Chiefs. Munster only need a point to assure themselves of qualifying for the Champions Cup Round of 16. The reigning United Rugby Championship winners have had a shaky season in the competition, sitting 10th and a point below the playoffs.

Northampton Saints will be seeking victory against Munster to seal a home tie in the Round of 16 having already booked a ticket. The English side possess a 100% record in the Champions Cup having won all their three games. The victories have been registered against RC Toulonnais, Glasgow Warriors, and Aviron Bayonnais. The two latter wins came with winning bonus points that thursted them to early playoff qualification. In the Premiership Rugby, Saints have also been flying high as they occupy the top spot, three points above Harlequins. The visitors will be hoping Tommy Freeman can extend his inspired form that has seen him land three tries in the competition.
