After eight rounds of matches, the visitors find themselves leading the standings with 10 points, though there are as many as three other teams tied with the same total. The Royals are currently on top thanks to their superior net run rate, which currently stands at +0.939. The Royals took their record to five wins and three losses in the tournament after winning their last match in impressive fashion over the Chennai Super Kings in midweek. Yashasvi Jaiswal headlined yet again for the Royals with the bat scoring 77 in 43 balls en route to posting 202/5 in their 20 overs. Their good batting display was backed up with the ball, with Adam Zampa taking 3/22, while Ravi Ashwin went about his business as usual, notching up two wickets for just 35 runs in his four overs. The Royals emerged victorious in the most recent meeting between these sides and will need a repeat of that result in order to maintain their place at the top of the standings. 

The Mumbai Indians got their IPL campaign off to a very poor start, failing to win either of their opening matches. They bounced back well thereafter, winning the next three matches, which took them to six points; however, they couldn’t maintain the momentum and now have a record of three wins and four losses in their seven matches so far. Mumbai are now in eighth place, two points above the foot of the table and four behind their opponents at the top of the pile. In their last match, Mumbai were very poor, responding to the Titan’s 207/6 with a meager 152/9 and never looked in the match. Nehal Wadhera was the only batsman that managed an innings of any significance scoring 40 runs in 21 balls, while Piyush Chawla picked up two wickets for 34 runs in his four overs. The five-time IPL champions have been extremely inconsistent this year and will need some of their big players to step up if they are to challenge for the top four spots.
