It's been a terrific year for Russian teenage sensation Mirra Andreeva. The six-time WTA champion is chasing her fourth WTA title in 2026 at the US tournament after successes at the Adelaide International, Linz Open and, most recently, the French Open. 

Interestingly, one of Andreeva's WTA titles this year came at the expense of Anastasia Potapova, whom she defeated in the Linz Open final in April. She won all six sets at the US Open, including a 6–2, 7–6(7–5) victory over Nikola Bartunkova in the third round. 

Anastasia Potapova blasted four aces to stun World No. 10 Amanda Anisimova 6–2, 7–5 in the third round but faces a significantly tougher test against fifth-ranked Mirra Andreeva. She has lost six of her last 11 matches, with eight of those decided in two sets. 

The four-time WTA champion holds an underwhelming 1–3 record against Andreeva, including defeats in three of her recent meetings with the Russian.
