After contrasting finishes to the previous campaign, Middlesbrough and Swansea play on matchday one of the 2025-26 Championship season. This match at Riverside Stadium on Saturday between the Boro and the Swans comes with our prediction of a home win.
Middlesbrough finished 10th last season in the Championship with 64 points and four points outside the playoff spots. Swansea finished right behind Middlesbrough with 61 points, although it was largely down to their blitz towards the end of the season.
It will be a season of change at the helm for Middlesbrough as Rob Edwards looks to get them into promotion contention. They didn’t have a blockbuster preparation in the friendlies, although that’s not a barometer of what could come here.
Middlesbrough had four draws and a defeat from their five friendlies, with all stalemates ending with goals from both teams. Interestingly, they won 1-0 at this venue last season and will hope to keep winning against their old foes.
