The East’s seventh-place team in the Miami Heat play host to the West’s fifth-placed Sacramento Kings in South Beach on Wednesday night. The Heat are in real trouble as they desperately search for a way to stop the bleeding with their current losing streak reaching seven games. A 118-105 defeat to the Phoenix Suns at home was the latest defeat for Jimmy Butler and company who have now seen their record slump to 24-23. This puts Miami seventh in the Eastern Conference, two and a half games behind the Pacers in sixth and with an identical record to the eighth-seeded Orlando Magic. Nothing is seemingly going right for Miami who are shooting just 43.2% from the field overall in their last 10 games. This cold streak from the floor has dropped the Heat to 26th in the NBA in FG% (46.1%) and 22nd in effective FG% (53.4%).

Sacramento comes into this contest in a good vein of form with four consecutive wins following their 103-94 win over the Grizzlies on Monday. The hot streak has the Kings up to fifth in the West standings with their record of 27 wins and 18 defeats. They’re currently trailing the fourth-place Clippers by three games and hold a two game lead over the seventh-place Mavs for their spot in the top six. A top six seed means avoiding the play-in tournament and qualifying directly for the NBA Playoffs. Sacramento haven’t quite hit the offensive highs of last season which saw them lead the league in scoring. However, their 118.4 points per game average places them ninth and they rank 12th in adjusted net rating. This is the fourth of a lengthy seven-game road trip for the Kings who are looking to make it a perfect four from four as the away team.
