This is the first meeting between the two and the second tour final of their respective careers. Marta Kostyuk defeated top seed Jessica Pegula in the semifinals in straight sets. It was her second 2-0 win in the competition and her fourth victory against a top-10-ranked player. The Ukrainian is having an exciting campaign and will hope to make it two wins in two in WTA tour finals. Kostyuk, who won the ATX Open last season, has compiled a 12-4 record so far this year. All 16 matches have been played on hard courts. Before her run to the final, the 21-year-old had a quarterfinal finish in Melbourne as her biggest result this season. She has moved up three places to 31st in the live ranking. A win here will propel her into the top 30 and a new career high.

Katie Boulter has also advanced to the second tour final of her career. Last season she won on home soil in Nottingham to claim her first tour title. The Briton, who is in her debut tournament here, is having an exceptional season. She has won 10 of 13 matches and nine of those have come on hard courts. Her last win was a dominant straight-sets victory over Emma Navarro, one of the most in-form players in the WTA this season. She relinquished just three games in the semifinal duel which was her third 2-0 win in this event. Boulter has moved up a massive 14 places in the live ranking and is ranked 35th. This is a career-high ranking. Winning the title will see her leapfrog Kostyuk and get into the world's top 30.
