Second seed Iga Swiatek goes up against the unseeded Marie Bouzkova in the second round at the Australian Open. They have played each other twice previously, and this is their second showdown at a major. Read on for our prediction of the match. 

Bouzkova saw off Renata Zarazua in the first round. She won in straight sets to claim only her second first-round win in Melbourne. Now she seeks to move past the second round for the first time. 

Bouzkova, who is up eight places to 36th in the live ranking, has compiled a nervy 4-3 record to start the season. A win against Swiatek will mark the Czech athlete’s first win over a top-10 player in two seasons. 

Iga Swiatek was not in her usual dominant form as she began her eighth consecutive appearance in Melbourne. The world number two, seeking to end a two-match losing run, defeated the qualifier Yuan Yue to progress to this round. 

Yue proved to be a stubborn opponent and forced the opening set into a tiebreaker, which Swiatek won 7-5. Swiatek, who has won both previous meetings with Bouzkova, is seeking to complete a career Grand Slam. 

This is the only major that the Pole has yet to conquer.
